In-Depth Videos

1. Installing the Gauge Bar Lock

The gauge bar allows Trudi to work on a wide range of rim diameters.  To prevent shipping damage we’ve applied protective tape between the gauge bar and the WAM, and we’ve replaced the gauge bar lock with a temporary bolt.

Use a knife or scissors to carefully cut the protective tape.

Use a 4mm allen key to remove the temporary bolt.  Install the gauge bar lock .

2. Installing the WAM Motor Cap

WAM is short for wheel advancement motor.  This is what Trudi uses to accurately rotate the wheel while it measures it.

Use a 2.5mm allen wrench to remove the two screws on the WAM.  Install the Hub Arm Handle and reinstall the four screws.  Tighten to 4Nm.

3. Installing The Hub Arm Handle

The combination of the hub arm, thru-axle cones, and QR fingers allows Trudi to work on a wide range of hub widths and axle types.

Use a 2.5mm allen wrench to remove the four screws on the hub arm handle.  Install the hub arm handle and reinstall the four screws.  Tighten to 4Nm.

4. Installing the Internal Nipple Adjuster coupler and nipple driver

Trudi can work with different models of internal spoke nipple by swapping its nipple driver.

Slide the coupler on to the internal nipple adjuster.  Use a 1.5mm allen key to tighten one of the grub screws onto the flat section of the Internal Nipple Adjuster motor shaft, then tighten the second grub screw.

5. Plugging in the Tensiometer

The more accurately we’re able to measure spoke tension, the better Trudi will be at truing a wheel

Insert the tensiometers USB cable into Trudis electronics control box.  The USB logo on the tensiometers cable faces outwards.

6. Plugging in the Internal Nipple Driver

The internal npple driver allows Trudi to rotate spoke nipples and bring a wheel into true.

The internal nipple drivers connector has a locating key.  Align the locating key and carefully insert the internal nipple drivers connector into the electronics control box and tighten the connectors locking collar.

7. Powering up Trudi

Caution: Always follow this procedure when powering up Trudi

  1. Plug barrel adjuster into Trudi’s electronic control box
  2. Plug the power cable into Trudi’s power supply
  3. Plug the power cable into the wall outlet

8. Launch the App

Trudi's Android App should automatically start once power is connected.

Android 17 users may see a USB device prompt, if so select "send file" and the Android App will launch.
